Rodrigo Mujica Barros is the General Manager at CyD Tecnología and from his position he is working hard to achieve the company’s leadership in the delivery of technological solutions to operational problems in all types of clients.
In the following interview Rodrigo tells us about his beginnings at CyD and how he made the decision to create a new company focused on the use of technologies.
What is your history at CyD (when and how did you arrive at the company, what did you do before and what made you leave your old job)?
I arrived in October 2003. Actually, I tried to join in mid-2002, but at that time I was told that there was no vacancy or position available and I was recommended to go to work in a construction company. I worked for a year at Constructora LyD and I was lucky that in 2003 CyD won the management of Line 4 of the Santiago Metro and there was room for me in that team.
What do you like most about CyD companies today?
What I like most is that the emphasis is on people and human relations. I also like the flexibility and the teamwork that is reflected day by day in the employees. Another thing I like is the possibility of creating new businesses and that we are not afraid to innovate.
What led you to found CyD Tecnología? How was the idea born? What have been the results to date?
The idea was born from conversations with other colleagues. With Rodrigo Arellano, who leads the Mining Management and also with Juan Eduardo Coeymans, who is in charge of Business Development.
We think that CyD Tecnología is a very powerful way to differentiate ourselves from our competitors and to serve clients during the operation or exploitation phase of the infrastructure projects in which we work. Moreover, our motto is “We help you improve your operation”.
When we make CyD Tecnología known, we have a very positive response from our clients, they show interest, ask questions and tell us that we are on the right track. We have already closed contracts with large mining and energy companies for the development of software and hardware. In addition, we are running pilots with partner companies to deliver innovative solutions, which we could even patent in the short term.
What is the value that the CyD team seeks to bring to its clients?
We seek to provide our clients with a job well done, honest and with collaborators who are proud and happy with their contribution. We also offer a very good mix between experienced professionals and young engineers who bring energy and creativity, supported of course with first class technological tools. All of the above leads to our clients’ projects achieving their goals.
In your opinion, and considering global trends, what is the biggest challenge facing CyD Tecnología?
The biggest challenge is to be at the forefront of technologies and tools that allow us to make life easier for our clients. That is why we keep ourselves informed of new trends and constantly invest in research and development.
In 5 more years, where do you see CyD Tecnología?
Like our founding partner César Bastidas, I see CyD Tecnología consolidated in the digital transformation market, with clients in several countries in the region.
